Today I will talk about the changes that I would like to see made in my study program. The truth is that I know very little about the infrastructure or technology of the university because I came in during the pandemic. The subjects that I must study are summarized in chemistry, calculus, physiology and laboratory practices. I would say that my experience during the first semester was not that bad, I felt very scared and nervous but fortunately I consider that most of the teachers made an effort to work together with us to be able to carry the year as well as possible in the pandemic. I learned many things considering that there were many subjects that I did not see at school and I admired my classmates who did know, so I understood that I had to study and try harder.I personally consider that later I had courses that required more time and I have had courses that require a lot of study and dedication, it was really frustrating because no matter how hard I studied there are evaluations where they give very little time and sometimes I am not able to finish the test or check my answers. I feel that I don't really measure how much I study, but how much I can get frustrated and feel stupid for not meeting the demands. For me it is very sad when my classmates talk to a teacher and they only answer "the time is right, you should study more".
I really would like this to change and for some courses not to pass the material as quickly as if we were going to memorize everything so quickly. And I would really like that professor could be more understanding of our petitions or at least listen to them because there are courses that simply don't want to listen to the students if there is a problem and then if the grades are bad it is our fault because "we don't dedicate the time of 3-5 hours of study for each course" and it really frustrates me, they make me feel that everything is my fault and you can never say that you don't understand something...if you do it many times they ignore it and tell you that you didn't study. I feel that there are courses where the teaching methods don't help, personally I don't learn if they only read me a ppt and then in the seminar they criticize me if I don't do an exercise, this is not in all the courses, there are courses where the professors do explain a lot sometimes but not others.
In summary, I like the teaching methods of some courses and I learn a lot, I enjoy those courses where the teacher is willing to answer questions and repeat if necessary, but others frustrate me a lot and I would like to change it and the academic load of some subjects. I'm just trying to learn from this...maybe later I'll be able to handle the frustration better and the negative comments won't affect me anymore, after all I'm just finishing my second year! and I will try to take advantage of those courses that I do like and where I learn.
